Bird of prey-special stamps




Birds of prey are devided into teo groups,Deurnal Raptors and Nocturnal Raptors(Falconiformes,Strigiformes).
They are characterized by notched bills ,long wings and swift,powerful flight.
They have sharp and curved talons on the feet.
They paly an important role in maintaining ecological balance.

Festive lanterns, also known as decorated lanterns, are classified as pendent latern,wall lantern  ,desk lantern and hand lantern. It is also a traditional Chinese work of art.

Two designs were selected from the western wei period,depicting "Hunting" and "Fighting"

The other two, "Farming " and "pagoda Building" are works created in the Northern Zhou period.

They give a vivd picture of the life and activities of the people.

In commemoration of China's participation in the Summer Olympic games for the first time
after  the restoration of its lawful seat on the international Olympic committee.

The 23rd Olympic Games was held in Los Angeles ,USA from July 28 to August 12,1984.

The People 's Republic of China sent a delegation of more than 300 athletes competing in 16 events.

Rose is a kind of ornamental flower and well-known in the world for its beautiful shape,

Rhododendron are one of the beautiful flowers in the world and one of traditional flowers in China.
China enjoys the largest variety of nearly 600 species.
The plant is best adapted to high mountains and deep valleys 2500 to 4500 metres above sea level.

The Peony Pavilion is is a Chinese classical Literary masterpiece.  

It is athe representative work of Tang Xianzu, a well -known playwright and writer of the Ming Dynasty.
It place an important position in the history of Chinese literature and development of traditional opera.

The stamps Metasequoia glyptostroboides, Cathaya argyrophylla,Taiwania flousiana and Abies beshanzuensis.

The plants are in imminent danger and are listed under the first category of state protected species.

The Romance of the Three Kingdoms is a Literary  Masterpiece of ancient China (second series).

The names of the stamps are "The Night Attack on Wuchao","Making Three Calls at the Thatched Cotlage","Rescuing the Master Single-handedly", and "Turning the Changban 
 Bridge Upside Down".
